February 14th is Valentine day and in Japan girls are the one who gives chocolates to boys. Most of the time, they even made cute chocolate by themselves to impress the boy they like.

The one they love will receive special chocolates in a thoughtful wrapping with a love letter. Japanese girls also have to give chocolate to most of the boy they know: coworkers, friends (tomo choco), classmates, etc … Recently, chocolate companies even came up with the jibun choco, the chocolate you buy for yourself on valentine day.

March 14th is White Day: the occasion for boys to return gifts or chocolate to the girls who offered chocolate to them. Traditionally, the gift have to worth three times the value of the one they received on Valentine day, and it is also recommended to be white.
